The Markets, Perth Cultural Centre - Sunday 31st May

Looking for things to do this Bank Holiday weekend? Why not pop down to Perth Cultural Centre and check out the market outside the WA Museum on the corner of James & Beaufort St. The myfuroshiki stall will be open on Sunday from 10am to 5pm and I'll have lots of lovely new wrapping cloths for gifts & bags (not yet listed on the internet). To show just how simple knotting a furoshiki is, I'll be doing quick 5 minute demos of the basic gift wrap, shoulder bag & purse, so please stop by the stall and take a look.

Hoping to see you on Sunday!
Olivia

Marvellous Furoshiki - flexible furoshiki bags

I found some lovely fabric on Saturday that was ideal for large furoshiki bags (using the different tying techniques featured in Oli's post ) and here are the results. All the bags are available in our Coriandr shop.

Birdsong

The Coriandr Express has just made its third stop and picked up the latest VIP, Julie Mills of Handmaid. Julie draws her inspiration for her gorgeous silk scarves and purses from the English countryside. Birds are a recurring theme as in this cute pink bird scarf

and this beautifully handprinted and embroidered leather purse.
Pop along to Coriandr to find out more about Julie and her lovely designs.

... and here is a little furoshiki bird wrap in her honour!

All aboard and welcome to the Coriandr Express!

Coriandr is one of the newer online handmade marketplaces. It’s full of a great range of fabulous items from cards to crotcheted rings. With its clean, clear layout, it’s a lovely experience for both buyers and sellers, all of which is why we’re really pleased to be taking part in the Coriandr Express. You can read more about it on the Coriandr Express blog set up by the amazing Lynne of Pirate Pixie Crew. Basically, it’s a group of enthusiastic sellers who’ve got together to promote just some of the fantastic items available on Coriandr. Over the next few weeks 21 different sellers will be the VIP for a few days each and we’ll see more of their great work and get to know them better.

The first stop was Dig The Earth, with Kevin’s wonderful range of decorated mirrors and colourful cards. I bought some, which arrived beautifully presented and packaged and were every bit as good as they look in the pictures. All his cards are half price during May, so hurry along the platform and get some for yourself!

Our next VIP is blue fish handmade where Izabela’s love of fibres, alternative fashion, accessories inspired by a history, colours, textures shine through in her gorgeous range of crotcheted items. I particularly love this delicate crotchet flower necklace

Whilst these slippers look very cosy

And these are just amazing!

Izabela is offering a 10% discount and free shipping to readers of the Coriandr Express blog so why not take a look and find out more about her and her wonderful creations.

…. And if you’re inspired to buy a little gift, our blue fish furoshiki would be perfect to wrap it in!

Thank you for making it to the Made-it fair.

Thanks very much to everyone who came along to the Made-It fair. It was a very enjoyable day with lovely people (thank you Kirsten and Deborah for all the cups of tea and choccy biscuits) and a good location. To mark the occasion, I rewarded myself with some beautiful rainbow coloured cards from DigTheEarth on Coriandr http://digtheearth.coriandr.com/ . They're gorgeous and green, being made from 100% recycled card and fully biodegradable protective 'cello wraps' ... and there's a special promotional offer on them this week. What more could you ask for!
